Where can I buy organic budgie seed mix in the uk.?
I’m not sure if you can find one with naturally occurring calcium, vitamins and minerals but if possible this would be helpful. I have tried to feed my budgie fresh carrot, peas, egg and apple so far and he’s turned his beak up at all of them, even after he’s seen us eat them first, choosing to only eat his seed mix! I’m trying celery leaves and carrot tops next but in the meantime he really could do with some proper organic non coloured/flavouring free nutrition.
As a breeder and Living in the uk, there are no organic seed sellers and it would be far too expensive to produce.
If your bird is on a good quality seed diet, then you should have no problems.
Caged birds get their Calcium from Cuttle bone and seeds, vits. and minerals are catered for in good seed mixes,
The best way for your birds to obtain most of these is by occasionally feeding soaked sprouting seed,to do this soak some of their seed in warm water overnight ,drain , rinse, place somewhere warm till it sprouts (2-3 days) rinse and feed to your birds, this is highly nutritious for all birds.
I have bred Parrots and small Parrakeet’s including Budgies , Finches etc.and never fed artificial foods, have you tried small portions of Sweet Corn Cob,Sprouts,Kale, Cress,if you can get some Chick weed I know at present that there is not much chance to obtain it due to the recent bad weather but if you can try your birds on it(not frosted)
Hope this has helped in any way.
